My Dear Young Friends,

Even though the Spring is late in coming to us this year, today begins the month of May, and May belongs to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

And here is a picture of me with a group of children at the altar on their First Communion Day. I know some of these boys and girls love to pray the rosary during May. One girl prays the rosary every day all throughout the year! The rosary is a prayer that's like a chain linking earth to heaven.

Every day for the next fifteen days you'll find some short thoughts here to read between each of the rosary prayers. First we'll pray the Joyful Mysteries: scenes of Mary, Joseph and the young Jesus. Then we'll pray the Sorrowful Mysteries: scenes from the suffering and death of Jesus. Finally the Glorious Mysteries: scenes from the Resurrection of Jesus and two very beautiful moments from the end of Mary's life here on earth.

I hope the prayer thoughts and the pictures help you to lift up your hearts to heaven and to grow in faith, hope and love.

I send a blessing for your families in May,

Father Stephen
