Intercessions ~ Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

As we live in a time of garish extroversion,/ reality television,/ and showmanship,/ we pray to be authentic persons,/ who know ourselves humbly before God,/ using our gifts to God's glory and the service of others./ We pray to the Lord.

It is apple season again,/ a time of abundance and variety./ Grant that we would take nothing for granted,/ but live in gratitude/ surprise and generosity./ We pray to the Lord.

Another terrible hurricane has hit the United States this week./ We pray for rescuers and helpers./ For those who are suffering, sad and frightening losses./ We pray to the Lord.

We pray for the people who are with us at Mass today,/ aware that each carries some great struggle./ May we be sustained by strong faith and hope./ We pray to the Lord.

We pray for people around the world who feel overwhelmed,/ burdened,/ weary or afraid for the future./ Grant them gifts of comfort,/ strength/ and the blessings of supportive friendship./We pray to the Lord.

For the President of the United States/ and leaders around the world./ May they be found before God with clean hands,/ clean minds,/ clean hearts./ We pray to the Lord.
